The Design Team at Smith Myers boasts a mix of PhD, MS, BSc. More importantly they offer engineering experience and skills which span design in: PCB layout, mechanical structures, RF circuits and systems, high speed digital circuits, DSP applications, analogue circuits, embedded microprocessor systems, real time multi-tasking operating systems, Windows applications and more. System Design

Our knowledge of complex cellular systems enables us to manage all aspects of hardware and software to allow us to rapidly develop complete customer solutions.

Mechanical Design engineers use 3D modelling and the very latest in CAD design packages. They can integrate information from other design packages such as the PCB layout design software.

Test engineers use all in-house test equipment calibrated to NPL standards and compliant with BS 5750 for traceability and accuracy.

Radio Design

Our radio design team is experienced in the design of all varieties of radio receiver used in the cellular industry. The radios that we use in our own equipment are highly sensitive devices with an excellent performance characteristics. We can use this expertise to develop customized receivers to meet clients individual needs.

Our electronic design engineers use software design packages to to model RF circuits to speed up the prototyping cycle of design. Schematics are electronically transferred to the PCB layout engineers, who will then supply the mechanical design engineers with electronic board shapes to fit to the 3D modelling of the finished equipment.

Software Design

We have experience in using a range of DSP devices to implement the complex protocols used in the cellular industries. Our software engineers use a myriad of software tools and compilers to produce code for a range of target processors.

The use of PCs to simplify the interface to complex test equipment is becoming increasingly common. Our PC development team can offer extensive knowledge of windows based software to enable them to rapidly implement innovative user-interfaces to client specifications.
