UK owned and UK based, we are dynamic and customer driven cellular engineering subject matter experts. Our products are designed not only to meet customer requirements but to be industry leading and disruptive. Such as our award winning ARTEMIS mobile phone detection, location and communication system for Search & Rescue.
Extensive qualification testing to ensure the highest operational availability in the most rigorous operational environments.
Solutions for every platform from ground based to small UAS and large manned aircraft. All based around the same core electronics.
Industry Leading Speed
Our systems can deal with thousands of handsets per minute offering the user industry leading speed and mass-mapping/geofence features.
Traditional Direction Finding can be slow, inaccurate and require multiple antennas. Our systems geolocate handsets quickly and accurately over extended ranges using our two independent and proprietary geolocation techniques.
All of our systems require only two small antennas, one transmit and one receive. This makes integration simple and economical when compared to systems that rely on older direction finding techniques with antenna arrays.
We have one API document that covers all systems for Mission System and Sensor Integration. Existing integrations exist for CarteNav AIMS ISR (see above), Teledyne FLIR and many others. Our team is standing by to help you with your integration.
Smith Myers Communications Ltd was formed in 1987 from the design partnership of Tony Smith and Peter Myers, both previously engaged as freelance design engineers. That same year saw the launch of the first in a series of radically different test and measurement equipment for the new burgeoning cellular radio market. Intuitive and easy to use, the equipment’s simple user interface masked the complexity of cellular radio technology and protocols. Ease of use became the hall mark of Smith Myers equipment, and even today the user friendly interface offers the professional user the tools to achieve their mission goals in difficult environments.
We’re an engineering-led company with a laser sharp focus on our customers. We promote a culture within our business that allows our engineers to design outside of their comfort zone in order to create truly disruptive products and capabilities. We are passionate about excellence and doing our work right the first time. Our reputation depends on our delivered value in the eyes of every customer. Promoting an environment where innovation is the norm. We develop and apply world-class technology and process. We listen, learn, and seek out the best ideas. We attack complacency and continually improve.
Respect & Integrity
We treat people with respect and dignity. Listen actively. Communicate in a timely and forthright manner. Never undermine colleagues and exercise the highest level of professional and ethical behaviour.
Rigorous & Resolute
Sometimes simple is better than clever and we value well-communicated, critical analysis of our processes and products. While we use metrics to make good decisions we are never beholding to them.
We take accountability and own long-term outcomes. Consider impact for the entire company, beyond a specific team, product, or individual. Never say “it is not my job”.
We build positive, long-term relationships with our customers, joint-venture partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and colleagues that are built on trust, respect, and collaboration.
Always be Growing
We stretch ourselves, experiment, seek and deliver actionable feedback, listen, learn from failure, and demonstrate resilience. Try new things. Be balanced and accurate evaluators of our actions.
Curiosity & Bias for Action
Curiosity pushes each of us to dive deep, innovate, improve, and discover. Never stop learning. Act with deliberate speed and initiative. Take calculated risks to move forward and iterate.
Showcasing a range of SAR platforms including crewed and uncrewed aircraft, the disaster and resilience planning exercise LIVEX led by ARCSAR, will take place 28th August – 1st September outside of Svalbard, northern Norway. The PolarQuest expedition ship M/S Quest will embark on a cruise along the west side of Spitsbergen with 50 passengers and a crew of 25 people. The exercise will also take place in the waters outside of Longyearbyen.
