Industry Leading Speed

Our systems can deal with thousands of handsets per minute offering the user industry leading speed and mass-mapping/geofence features.


Traditional Direction Finding can be slow, inaccurate and require multiple antennas. Our systems geolocate handsets quickly and accurately over extended ranges using our two independent and proprietary geolocation techniques.

Hardware Integration

All of our systems require only two small antennas, one transmit and one receive. This makes integration simple and economical when compared to systems that rely on older direction finding techniques with antenna arrays.

Software Integration

We have one API document that covers all systems for Mission System and Sensor Integration. Existing integrations exist for CarteNav AIMS ISR (see above), Teledyne FLIR and many others. Our team is standing by to help you with your integration.


Our Roots

Smith Myers Communications Ltd was formed in 1987 from the design partnership of Tony Smith and Peter Myers, both previously engaged as freelance design engineers. That same year saw the launch of the first in a series of radically different test and measurement equipment for the new burgeoning cellular radio market. Intuitive and easy to use, the equipment’s simple user interface masked the complexity of cellular radio technology and protocols. Ease of use became the hall mark of Smith Myers equipment, and even today the user friendly interface offers the professional user the tools to achieve their mission goals in difficult environments.

Showcasing a range of SAR platforms including crewed and uncrewed aircraft, the disaster and resilience planning exercise LIVEX led by ARCSAR, will take place 28th August – 1st September outside of Svalbard, northern Norway. The PolarQuest expedition ship M/S Quest will embark on a cruise along the west side of Spitsbergen with 50 passengers and a crew of 25 people. The exercise will also take place in the waters outside of Longyearbyen.
